How do I add a new place?

Once you are logged in you will see a link to the left called "New Place". Click this link.

You will get a form that you can fill out. The name of the Place must be unique, you will be told if it isn't.

Add a description of the place, see other places for examples.

Enter a location, usually a shorthand for where it is or the address.

Enter the directions to the place in case it is hard to find.

In the tags enter a tag describing the type of place, look at the tags for current places at the left, and try to use an existing tag, or make up a new descriptive tag if it doesn't fit one of the existing categories. You can have multiple tags, just separate them with a comma.

Additionally it ca be really helpful to put the URL of a map in the URL of Map field. To do this goto http://maps.google.com or http://maps.yahoo.com, find the place, then copy the URL and paste it into that field. In Google maps you can even customize the map and add push pins and lines to mark say a trail, see the beach tags for examples.
