Reopens 12/19/2008 with new artificial turf better late than never ;)
its just as good as it was, maybe a little more expensive. Dogs are allowed on the patio.
Park is closed from 10/14/2008 thru 11/21/2008 for installation of plastic grass.
LG was our first dog park, and I love it. The energy level is great. But it could be that i met the right people at just the right time! Loki can be himself, crazy, full-on Ruff (pun) and Tumble Play!
This park feels a little "Stepford Dogs" to me. The energy felt restrained. Like my dog couldn't fully unleash his full potential play. It could be too many dogs or the "perfectly manicured" setting. Who knows? But it didn't feel as comfortable as LG!
Great beach. The dogs truly enjoy it.
I've had some trouble there with some abusive people, one guy wouldn't even let me in saying my dogs were aggressive, and another assaulted me after our dogs got into a very minor confrontation. I'd report him to the police if I could have got his name.
its open again
under new management. Food is still meant to be good or better. Dogs are still allowed on Thursday, but unconfirmed.
Sometime this year they will be putting artificial turf down.
Be careful at this park, some people there are crazy. One person reported another persons dogs to Animal control, who posted a note on the persons door saying one more incident and the dog will be seized. They didn't even bother to investigate, as it happens the other dog was trying to hump the one dog, when it turned around and snapped at the humping dog, so it was actually the reporting persons fault for not controlling their dog, but Animal control didn't even try to get the full story they just slap a dangerous dog sticker on you. Another woman there is telling anyone who will listen that she has witnesses that my dogs have attacked people, this kind of vicious lie can be very dangerous. So beware!
huge area for dogs to play. Try to go during high tide, as they get pretty muddy at low tide, and chasing the birds can get you a ticket.
The big dog park is closed for maintenance from Oct 2007 for a few months
This is a great beach! It's more so your dog is bringing you along to a Dog Beach. Lots of fun and dogs!
Also there are usually many Huskies there in the evenings, it is a Husky tolerant park :)
I love this beach, the dogs adore it too.
Except for the horses, and the people trying to have picnics on the beach.
Other than that it is great.
I quite enjoy this dog park. It's the only park that my dog doesn't come home like a mud/dust ball. A lot of dogs no matter what the time of day (i.e., super earl or even at 8pm). Most dog owners are sensible, with exception to a few owners that doesn't understand dog/puppy play.
Meet where? at the dog wash?
hey peeps, casey and i are going to be there with our lil, wolf pack. can't believe they gave me the day off.
Hope you don't mind but I added Hellyer dog park as the place, as it has a map.
You can park on the street and walk in too, see the Hellyer dog park place, there is a map.
oh my, that is one beautiful looking girl :)
Hey its conans owner Randy we were wondering if you new that wolf guy breeders # in santa cruz? call my cell 4078-500-6254 Thanks....
Unfortunately Romeo gave Sabre (aka Tonka) up to the shelter where he was euthanized. I'm so sorry Tonka :(
Mishka was a one of a kind, he wasn't a Malamute he was a "Mishka". I miss him terribly, his loss is almost too much to bear.
I miss you, Tommy. xoxo
Hi there, cute pup. We try to go to the park on M, W, and F. Usually around 6:30ish give or take depending on traffic. Also on the weekends it's up for grabs if we go. There are a bunch of huskies that go there, last night there were 6 huskies there and they definitelyl wear one another out :). Hopefully we'll see you out there.
Hi I'm pretty new to this site and I was looking at the pics of Fed. and saw that you go to Saratoga dog park. I've just started takin my girl Luna there and was wondering when you go there?
That comment wasnt very nice so what if my alignments a little screwed up..so is Federers..thats it im gonna get you GOOD when I see you!!!!!!!
Stop punking me at the park fool! Also, learn how to walk straight, you look riduculous like Federer!
Hehe.. He looks large in the first picture. Becoming a little chunk like Haro! Can't wait till our pups can play at the park together!
Haha Koda looks kind of irritated in some of his pics like, "Woman seriously, leave me alone I'm trying to get comfy in these sheets.." Very cute pic of Soco and Koda. I need to take some shots of Koda and our pups together so we can post them up here! See you soon.
Hey, I just wanted to send you the breeder information where we got Haro from down south. Here is their direct web site http://www.freewebs.com/desertarkhuskies
Also you can find them on puppyfind.com if you just search California and they have a few listings and pics of the past pups on there. See ya soon!
Very handsome pup!
That pic of fed and Soco is the cutest. That hike definitely wore them out!!
He is the cutest!!! Im glad I finally met him! HIm and Tikaani will only be 10days! see you soon.
ok, the pic on the stairs. that is a one in a million shot right there. did you get it the first time or was it a chore to get.
Sorry to hear of your loss, we send our condolences. I've seen you with your other dogs and you treat them wonderful and I can only imagine that Grant was very lucky to have you as a father. Take care during this time. -Ang, Jess, and Fed
Grant passed away Monday morning at 2am 1/21/2008. He was OK in the morning but sometime in the late afternoon something was bothering him. He seemed disoriented and was uncomfortable. I took him to the emergency vet at around 1am, they said he was going into shock, but couldn't say why but it could be due to the cancer. I made one of the hardest decisions any owner has to make for their pet, and had them put him to sleep while he was in my arms. I couldn't bear to see him suffer any longer, and it was pretty clear he was not going to make it through the night.
RIP by dear friend, I'll love you forever.
Unfortunately Grant has been diagnosed with liver cancer. He has one tumor removed but the other is inoperable. He is on various medications which should prolong his quality of life for a while.
Thanks Ang - it was such a cute video! We laughed!! We are hoping Federer is ready to come back soon - Paul will be there tomorrow night with Nikki - Laney has a school concert.... We had such a great time at the beach - thanks for the memories... Nikki misses him so much she chewed up a first aid kit today - she must want him to get better soon!! Hey our email if you want ping us directly is nicholasfamily21@yahoo.com or rebecca.nicholas@hp.com - TTFN
Hey Beck, I just wanted to send you a video of Nikki at the beach @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBfhe5EEeQU . Federer is doing well and misses Nikki dearly! Hope all is well.
I am glad that Federer is doing well!! Nikki will miss him greatly but she can always look at those studly pictures! I was also surprised and very pleased with the pictures - one of my favorites is the image of you running with all three dogs. Keep us updated as the boy recovers and yes - we must go to Fort Funston again sometime - they and all of us had a blast!! Thanks for the idea.
Hey Beck, just wanted to let you know that Federer is out of surgery and recovering from losing his manhood today, and that Jess and I were really impressed with the amazing photos Tim took yesterday! We'll have to do that again sometime! See you in 10 days.
What a cutie! She is a lot lighter!
I love the new beach picture - its great - now we need to teach Nikki how to be off leash at the beach too!!
Hi Jess - I added another pic of Nikki - but the one on the lawn chair is also a baby pic - I can post more later but here is something - she was a lot lighter!
Hey, how is the little man doing since his collision at the dog park? Federer hasn't been able to play with some huskies in a few days and wondered how Soco is. Anyhow hope to see you guys out there soon.
Hey there Beck, random question, but do you by any chance have any puppy puppy pictures of Nikki. We're looking into other pups and wanted a standard to go by. Thanks and we miss Nikki. -Ang, Jess, and Fed
That is a total bummer about Nikki! Buster just got snipped yesterday and will be out of the dog park for a while as well. He'll be depressed all week now :(. Sorry to hear about Nikki's knee, and that is pretty surprising since she seems to always be all over the place :(! Good luck and I hope your house survies as well! See you all sometime after Labor day. Federer sends his licks and cuddles to Nikki!
Hey Ang - Nikki will not be at the dog park for about a week - last night and on Saturday she pulled up lame with her right leg... turns out she has a loose knee cap - yeah can you believe it and he doesn't want her taking any sharp turns... We can walk her but no dog park play - :-( Hopefully we can get them back playing after labor day and our house survives!! Hope you are doing well!! Love and kisses to the 'lamb' Federer!!

My pack goes to Los Gatos Creek dog park in the evenings, and we often Hike along the trail there with some other husky/mals.
Also check BASH (link at top right) they have organized Husky events too.
We also hike occasionally, I'll post any hiking events up here when they happen, as well as beach trips, which we do in the summer, usually to Fort Funston or Santa Cruz.
Also check out society dog, they have two weekly dog walks and other events. http://www.societydog.com/, I sometimes go on the thursday walk around willow glen with them.

I've written into this. Just makes sick to watch how inhumane this is. Here is an updated list for those that want to partake in helping fight against this horrible act. https://secure.defenders.org/site/Advocacy?pagename=homepage&page=UserAction&id=845&autologin=true&s_einterest=C3C4&JServSessionIdr012=cn1tt7h9m2.app25a

Try Butcher park or Saratoga dog parks, they have this new fangled plastic grass, so there is no mud. Of course my guys love the mud so half the fun is gone right there ;)

hubba, hubba, hubba, yeah for bart! can't wait i saw the plans the other day. they look good, and lights, yes lights people night time at the dog park. all they need is a bar @ one end of the new park with some house music and that place would be perfect.

i have 3 wolfdogs, i will admitt that at first i too was one of those people who were all about them being part wolf, but over time i have been doing a lot of research on both wolf and wolf dog behavier. and over time the bond between each of my wolfdogs has grown to a point where to me it doesn't even matter how much wolf if any is in my wolfdogs. they're a part of my family/pack, and i'm very proud of all three of them in they're individual accomplishments. i still do research on them and also have an abundent amount of info from very experianced people that have been exposed to these breeds for a long time. you know who you are, and i thank you for your wisdom and knowledge on our lil' pack. i still think though that out here in california we do need to start making some noise about the breed, and all the benifiets of having them part of our culture!

Wolfwmn, your right and wrong, some wolfdog and pure wolves can be aggressive. If you look at my wolfdog page, we had one named Nakai, he was a pure wolf, who was aggressive to some people, usually folks who didn't know wolf behavour, and to small framed women. Even though he was socialized really well and friendly up till he matured, he did turn aggressive as he got older. He was fine with the people who raised him and never forgot anyone that came to visit him, but he started challenging small framed women and those that were not educated in wolf behaviour. I would not give back anything I learned from these amazing animals. Your right you need permits, but that does not stop people from keeping these guys. Im totally for leaving wolves in the wild and not in backyards.

Its unfortunate that California changed the regulation to include "...but cities and counties may prohibit possession or require a permit." That is a recent change :( IMHO it is unconstitutional for a local city government to dictate what type of dogs we can and can't have.

Too true, Hybrids are not for everyone! Not because of aggression, which most believe, but due to the fact they simply are not dogs, and need the pack leader to behave like a pack leader not a doting human. But then again Malamutes and Siberian Huskies also need special people too ;) Which is why I created this site.

Wolfdog hybrids are not for everyone and in all the years of education I have done about them, most are dogs sold at wolf dogs and have little if any wolf in them. I helped raise 2 pure wolves and 2 hybrids. I have visited many wolf facilities thought out the years of doing education. They are not pets in any sense, but companions for those that know wolf behaviour. I have a FAQ page on my wolfdog site. http://hometown.aol.com/dnlkat2/Banditspageindex.html

Unfortunately this flawed legislation passed. I urge people to contact their council member and complain very loudly about their total lack of regard for the rights of Dog owners in San Jose.

If you live in San Jose you should be very concerned about this. The link above gives instructions on how to contact your representative to vote against this.
